I’ve finally switched to the New Outlook after a few false starts and here are a few things that I like.
Improved “New Outlook” Copilot Features
Copilot in the old desktop version of Outlook doesn’t seem to have had any improvements for over a year.
However, the New Outlook has had loads of improvements.
Copilot Chat
You can use Copilot to ask anything you like or select from the many starter prompts
Click the Copilot icon to open the Chat panel and give Copilot your prompt.

Select from the starter prompts
And the Prompts library
Schedule a meeting in a single click
Select an email and click the Create a meeting request from this message with Copilot.
Copilot then creates the appointment, drafts an agenda and summarises the conversation all in one go. Once you accept the suggestion you can refine it.

Copy events in your Calendar easily
In the New Outlook you simply right click on an appointment to get the option to make a copy of it -known as Duplicate event.
Snooze emails till later
This lets you go through your emails and be reminded about those you can’t tend to now later on. They then temporarily disappear format you Inbox and come back with a reminder at the chosen date and time
Right click on the message and then click Snooze.
New Outlook also offers these handy features
Mail Storage Transparency
You can now see how much email you have – storage wise – and identify what needs attention,
Click the settings cog / Accounts / Storage
Pin Emails
Got something important that you don’t want to drop down your list as more emails arrive.
Right click on the email and click Pin
The message then displays at the top of your Inbox.
What next
Give the new version a try if you like the sound of the above and remember you can always switch back to the old for now…
