Happy Retirement Internet Explorer

by | Jun 1, 2022 | News

Dear Internet Explorer

15th of June is your last day. No more support and you’ll effectively stop working. You’ll fade from our desktops and in time, Windows Update will clean up and even remove your icon from our screens.

To be fair, most of us won’t notice. You’ve been upstaged by Firefox, Safari, Chrome and more. In fact, even your own family member, Edge, has pushed you aside. They pushed past you because you were slow and unreliable.

But there were good times, and you did have some party tricks that others couldn’t do – especially being able to map and open file folders in the older SharePoint interface, or operate some clunky old websites. Hopefully they’ve all seen this day coming and have moved on too.

So dear Internet Explorer. Thanks for your service. For a time, you were the icon most of us used most often, but that’s not been the case for a while. Have a happy retirement. You’ll fade away and I doubt we’ll miss you.
